Arrow **Brag on your suspension and help a fellow TL'er out!!**

A friend directed me to the CL site to look at a post. Evidently "Astroboy" owns a CL and he purchased the Zeal coilover system for his car. Well, he can't put them on because it is a bum fit, and supposedly Zeal is making a correct version to fit the CL/TL and will send him one. I'd post a link, but the site is down at the moment. Sorry.

Anyways, THAT is my first choice of suspension. For two main reasons...1.) The ride can be adjusted to either butter smooth or race-hard. 2.) Heigh adjustment.

These things mean a great deal to me. I want some height adjustability, but mostly I need a nice stock-like ride. Since the Zeal's may not fit afterall, or at least for the time being, I need to find out all the suspensions that you guys have, and your comments about your satisfaction with them. I'm looking to buy fairly soon, and I'd like to buy from Tim, if he has the particular product available. All coilovers are welcome! I can't use just springs...sorry all u Comptech fanatics.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

ken

I've had my Apexi Coilovers on since March of 2001. The ride quality is pretty close to stock but of course you can feel every bump now. It's not bad but that's the trade-off for great handling. I can really take corner much faster then before. I also needed adjustability since I live in NJ and it snows pretty hard here sometimes.

I really don't know how the Zeal Coilovers are but you definitely can't go wrong with the Apexi.

Um...JLMax....I'll remember you said that when I get 'em on and you want a ride to Waffle House.

BlackShadow: thanks man... I knew you would reply! I know you are mad proud of your Apexi's! Question: did you use the stock upper mounts, or did you get the ones that Apexi sells?

Ugh. I just don't wanna have a race suspension again like the one I had on my Integra. And that was fairly soft. I bought the TL for a reason, and I've fallen in love with the way it rides...so smooth. So I'm just trying to do my homework to avoid any mistakes that's all.

dude! get the Zeals
they are so amazing looking...and if you need them on the car right away, the top mounting plates from your original shocks will mount to the top of the Zeals so that you can put them on immediately...
the top mounting bolts that came with my Zeals are 10mm too close together because it was assumed the CL mounts are the same as the Accord mounts...
I am just waiting for the new parts because it's almost winter here so I am not going to put them on until the spring time...

if you want any more info, just let me know

How difficult is it to adjust the ride height of the coilovers? Where is the adjustment located?

there is a threaded sleeve on the shock body..there are two adjuster rings per shock..on adjusts the ride height and the other adjusts the spring rate...there are also dampning adjusters on the top of the shock...
you just turn the adjusters on the sleeve up or down to raise the car...generally this can be done one corner at a time, by just jacking up the car and maybe taking the wheel off, depending on how much room you have to work...

LOL.

How come I've heard the APEX are pretty damn stiff and you feel a lot of bumps. I've got to ride in my friends car this weekend so I can see for myself. But so many ppl say the ride is great...guess I got to see for myself.

Ken,
Astroboy is correct, if you really want the best ride comfort and adjustablity (ride and height) then get the Zeals
You can install them without the upper mounts (just like the Apexi come, no upper mounts) and when the correct upper mounts are complete, I will send them to you....

TIM!! You might have just made my day if it indeed does work for our TL's. The Zeals is definitely what I needed and want. Gotta get the wheels first though....it'll be a month hopefully at most but I should be ordering some B2's from you soon. If you don't mind clarifying this for me: I can install the Zeals without any problems, but I have to utilize the stock upper mounts, correct?? In theory, this would only give me a smoother ride anyways, right? So why would I need to wait (or would I at all?) for Zeal to come out with the correct fitting upper mounts?

'Preciate the response on this man...you've made my day. Seeing Astroboy's post on the CL site almost made me cry! JK, Astro!

ken

BTW, you don't happen to carry LSportline Model IV's at ACP do you, Tim?? Here's a pic....
