******Type S vs 2000 TRD Celica GTS 6-speed****
i race d aguy from work who has a TRD GTS 6speed with cai, TRD exhaust, LSD, clutch. we raced 4 times. the first 2 times he took me off the line but by the end i had pulled about a 1/4 on him.
The last race i used SS, and hung with him off the line and ended up beating him by a car length.
he posted the race on celica.net
you can read it here: http://celica.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb...c&f=5&t=000145

O.G.
Good race/kill story!
Now to be fair you should hook up your TL-S and race him again since he is modded. Then you should be able to beat him off the line and more at the end.
I guess your friend doesn't know anything about SS because in his post on celica.net, he was wondering what you did on the last race to be right by him and finally beating him by a car length.
BTW, is there really a big difference between a stock celica and a TRD celica???

why not compare them. If you take away size, weight, engine, both cars by the numbers run very close times.
In my book, it doesnt matter what your driving, if its close to you in performance, just race.
I think its that much better when your 3800 land yacht takes down a 2400lbd "sports car".

hey TypeSDragon:
what kinda mods does the GT have? Becasue if i can take out a modded GTS, unless the GT has something special, you should have no problem.
And on a side note, from now on, i leave the car in SS when i race.
For some reason, brake tourqing in D5 with VSA off did not allow me to break loose the tires very much and get a good launch. I would bog, as was evident my first two races where he would leave me off the line.
BUt the last two launches, where i stayed dead even, i put it in SS and for some reason, THEN i could spin tire and NOT bog down. By the way, before the last race, i lined up beside the GTS and wanted to do a burn out to get the dirt and gravel off of the tires.
So i lined up next to him, put it in SS, brake tourqed to 3000 and dropped the hammer, i kid you not, i did at least a 10-15 foot burnout!!! IT WAS SOOOOO SWEET!
To see the look on his face again when i did that!

Loving my 08 TLS!
Hey enderwiggin,
It is just a GT with exhaust and bodykit, not sure what he has under the hood, but I remember that Joey said that hey was running at high 15s in a 1/4 mile. Oh, he has some TRD badges.... that will probably slow him down a bit... hehee!! So, I am sure I can kick his booty bad! I will be getting an AEM intake soon. I am sure that will definitely help. Good kill by the way!!

a type-s badge adds 5hp, so a TRD badge must add at least 10hp! if he has more than 1, probably 15hp!

Good kill Enderwiggin. Nice to hear we can burn ricers as well..and still bask in luxury while doing so. :p hahaha
I was wondering about that matchup before. So, pretty much this Celica's only mods were the CAI and Exhaust, everything else stock. My buddy has the same car...same mods, but with his throttlebody ported. Now that gave him a big gain....not sure how much dyno wise.....but i've driven his car before and after.......felt very peppy, strong pull. Always thought he'd take out our 'tank' of a car...unmodified. Guess not. hehehe Now i must send over that link from HIS site. muahahahah *evil grin*
I do hear they have a supercharger in the works for that car though. Alleged 100hp gain. Crazy.
Once again....good job Enderwiggin.
