Shocks/Coilover Options

My RL has 76,xxx miles on it and I know this car was made with the intentions of being a comfortable ride when new these shocks are now 11 years old and they don't have that "new" ride to them.. so I'm looking to possibly get a new set but I really do not like KYB, Ive noticed Megan EZ street make coilers for the 06-12 RL.. Why not the 2005 RL or do they actually fit the 2005 too?
Ive seen some JDM options costing close to the Megan at 600-800 used but I am curious of my options

Is this a new thread for coilovers or just for Megans? If it's the prior, shame on your lack of searching. If it's the latter, well we had a member try to start a group buy and new product from Megan, but it never made the runway. Are you sure these really exist?

Anything that fits 2005-2012 will fit all 2005-2012 RLs.

it should fit if it's from the same generation. i see a lot of the megans for our RLs on Ebay for sale as well. i'm not sure if this is a better option than Largus or Tien coilovers??

Did you ever get these? I searched the RL part of this forum and this is the only thread that came up about Megan coilovers.

Are they worth getting? Good Quality?

I have an 06 with 160,000 miles on the stock suspension.

I don't really care about going with coilovers but the cheapest I can find regular KYB shocks with all the mounts/new rubbers/springs/etc.... is about the same price as the MEgans.

With the Megans I would at least be able to lower it an inch or so to get rid of the fender gap.

I am not looking to slam my car or race it. It's a daily driver.
Are Megans the best option or am I just not finding the best deal on OEM style shocks?

The Megans are about $750 shipped.

If I have other options Cheaper than $750 please post up. I just replaced the shocks all around on my other vehicle and it was $200 for all of them.

The prices for this RL are crazy.

I doubt these actually exist. Check out the eBay page, especially the buying by policy. If they don't fit, you have ten days to send them back, but they can't be used in any way and must be perfect. How would you know they don't fit unless you try to put them on. He's also the only person on the internet selling them. They don't exist.

There are multiple people selling them. I counted at least 8 different people.

That definitely helps.
But has anyone on here actually used them?
Would they be worth trying? I really only want working shocks. The factory ones are fine for me. I had no plans on lowering it, racing it, or putting any body kits on it.

But if I can get the option to lower an inch to close the gap on the fenders why not right?

These for $800

Megan Racing Ezii Street Series Coilovers Coils Kit for 2005 2012 Acura RL AWD | eBay

or these for $508 and I still have to swap the old springs over.
KYB Excel G Front Rear Struts Shocks 2005 2012 Acura RL incl Strut Mounts Boots | eBay

I cannot find a complete set of all four shocks with springs in KYB or OEM anywhere. Other than the dealerships which quoted me $1400 that is.

As of right now the Megan's appear to be my top choice unless one of you knows somewhere I should check? I have googled the shit out of these things. lol

I looked a three different eBay sellers and they were all coming from the same place. I know you really want them to exist, but not many products like coilovers get past this forum. We have had a member in talks with Megan design group regarding springs. If they had coilovers, why were they entertaining the idea of a new spring design without mentioning their product? I am willing to bet they either don't fit the RL, or they are not real Megan coilovers.

Before you buy, get a part number from the seller and confirm them with Megan.

Why are you not considering H&R? You can get all 4 OEM struts for around $700 and H&Rs for $250.

I didn't look at the ship from location. I see what you are saying.

H&R never came up in my searches. I am not opposed to any brand.

Like i said, i don't care to run stock but if i can get coilovers for nearly the same price i might as well go with them.

I will look into H&R. Thanks

Known coilover options are Tein (Street Flex and Comfort Sport), Mugen, Amuse, Largus, & D2S. Tein and D2S are the most available.

Strut/shock options are OEM, Aspec, and KYB.

Spring options are H&R (1.4" drop) and Aspec (0.75" drop). There should be a decent amount of Aspec springs available from people who put H&Rs on their Aspec struts.

Largus Full Adjustable coilover Kit for Acura Legend KB1 KB2 4WD 2004 2012 | eBay

Do those fit an 06 RL?
What is the ride like on these?

I am looking more for a soft ride than a stiff track focused ride.
How do these compare to the stock shocks? Harder I presume?

I hear ASPEC alot. What exactly are ASPEC compared to a stock suspension? I thought ASPEC was the stock suspension set up? I thought that's what I already had.

Sorry for all the stupid questions. I am more of a motorcycle guy. I only use my car to travel and haul the kids. Never really been into the car scene.

BC Racing also came out with a set of coilovers for our applications. Maybe you can try to look into those as well as an option?? I don't know much about them myself.

travr, the Largus will fit any 2005-2012 RL.

ASpec is the factory aftermarket sport option for Acura.

Just about any suspension mod will increase the stiffness of the ride compared to stock unless the coilovers have adjustable dampening. Just H&R springs is a slight improvement in cornering. A full ASpec setup will increase the harshness of bumps and road imperfections. I don't know if you can adjust the dampening of the Largus like you can the Teins, but I'm willing to bet the spring rate is much closer to ASpec than stock.

If you are concerned about highway cruising ride and just want some drop, get H&R springs on stock struts. If you want to trade cruising comfort for reduced body roll in hard cornering, get a coilover.

Yes Largus has 32 way dampening. It's just a knob you turn in either direction to stiffen or soften your suspension. I currently have it on the stiffest setting. I have softened them up before and the ride was very smooth.

Well, in that case, you can have everything with those, and $800 is relatively amazing.

if you get the largus, be prepared to possibly pay import duty fees. so tack on an extra $36 bucks on top of the price. keep that in mind if it might deter you from going a different route like Megan/BC Racing/Tein/D2/etc.

i just know that because that's what i had to pay when i purchased it from that seller on eBay.
