PAX Tire Cost Fixing?!
I just found a good price on line until I got the following message.
Your vehicle is equipped to use the Acura recommended Michelin PAX System. Tires and wheels for the Michelin PAX System are available exclusively through your Acura dealer.

It's not exclusively through the dealer... It's through anywhere certified to handle the Michelin PAX system. In fact all of the dealers here in the Seattle area are redirecting people to the two Discount Tire places in the region with the PAX equipment. The dealers don't even deal with the PAX stuff anymore.

Did you try Olin Mott Tire Stores?
The unfortunate deal with PAX is the special equipment and training needed to mount/dismount the tire from the wheel, and possibly replace the polymer support ring. I would call the Honda dealers and see if they are even willing to work on the car. I called a couple near me, and they would only work on Odysseys, and said I should go to an independent Michelin dealer in the DC area. My Acura dealer, at the time, would not/could not work on PAX other than to do a total unit swap out because they had no machinery or training.
Back in 08, a replacement set was as follows:
4 x PAX 245-680R460A @ $385.00
4 x Gel packs @ $24.95
Subtotal before taxes, fees $1645
Labor per tire @ $80
Total incl tax and disposal fees $2075. The tires were not in stock but could be gotten within 48 hours from a regional warehouse.
I gave up and bought a spare with new standard wheels and tires. I never had a lick of trouble with the PAX, and they performed well for me...good gas mileage, good life, and smooth ride...just not the grippiest in either wet, dry or snow.
