PAX Advice

I just bought some new wheels to get rid of the PAX system on my RL and I have been tire shopping and I called a national chain that is local to me to get a price on tires and told them I would need the sensors taken out of the stock rims. They have a machine at this location and he told me it would be $300 dollars to take out the sensors and that I should buy new ones.

He told me it takes 2 hours per tire… I have no idea but find this hard to believe and think they are trying to take advantage of me. Does anyone know how long it takes to remove a PAX tire off the rim if you have the PAX machine? I am not asking them to put the tire back on the rim.

I just bought new replacement PAX tires a couple of months ago and I was told it took 1.5 - 2 hours per tire. I can't imagine it would take that long just to remove a PAX tire when all four of mine were changed in 6-7 hours.

It may be cheaper just to buy new TPMS sensors than to pay to have them removed.

I got 4 TMPS from tirerack for about $120.00 for 4. It will be cheaper to but new ones. OEM TMPS are about $40.00 each, part # 06421-S3V-A04.

Did the dealer have to program them or can the tire place do it?

The ones I got from Tire rack, I just put them on and drove around for a few miles. After that every thing work, no need to program them.

I looked on thier website and didn't see any for the RL. Did you have to call them? What brand were they?
