Kumho or Hankook are low cost tires. To some extent, you get what you pay for. In the case of Michelin and Pirelli, you are paying for huge advertising budgets.

I know a guy in the local BMW club who runs summer Hankooks on the track. Cheap, and reasonably good for what you get. After 30 minutes of high speed, he says you can really feel the tires getting greasy, and you have to back off. I rode with him for over 45 mins flat out, at Summit Point and I was impressed!

Korean products are getting better and better, at a rate much faster than Japanese products did when they were first introduced. Remember the first Hyundais about 20 years ago? Look at them now, especially the Genesis.

I have found the Kumhos to be very competitive to higher priced tires with comparable performance-just loud. Rated well on TireRack.

I think the General Exclaim UHP is pretty cheap, around $100.

The Generals are rated well. Only issue I have found is that their contact patch is very narrow compared to other makes. Sometimes up to 1" narrower so 265's would be closer to 245's.

Many seem to like Falken 452 tires.
Nankang/Sunny tires are the lowest priced tires (under $100) but they have a large % of natural rubber in them which means they wear out very quickly.

onlinetires.com have the lowest prices around and run free shipping on a few tires here and there. Worth checking out.

General Exclaim UHP is my vote. I put these same tires on my 04 TL-S, great tire. When it’s time for new tires on my RL, I will definitely use the Exclaim UHP.
