Honestly, anecdotal evidence isn't going to buy you much. Keep your new tire diameters within 3% and I would put money against a catastrophic failure. Shit, MattW blew his entire diff on stock wheels, so who's to say anything? The only issue I have is putting wider rear tires on a FWD biased car. It's like putting two mufflers on a 4-banger and driving around in the winter before the engine has warmed up. Everyone knows.

If you want to do it right, 9" up front & 8" in back.

Jokes aside, your A/C, door handles, and arm rest are going to fall apart before the drivetrain.

Found a pretty cool tire calculator that calculates the difference in diameter and gives you options of other tires to run. Pretty cool.

FYI I got my wheels and I'm sticking to them, looking for suspension now.

My last question was rhetorical.

I got my initial answer to this thread. I'm just updating as I get more info. I was looking for rims but nothing I like is square so I was going with a mild staggered setup and was looking for people to see what kinds of issues if any were had.

So I got home and decided to test fit them since the storm wont be here for a couple hours and its actually nice out.

Don't mind the salt stains or the BMW center caps. Both will be taken care of. I just got off the phone and the A-SPEC suspension is not available in NA so I will be currently sourcing out the parts individually. Depending on how much that is going to cost, I may try to get some coils from Japan.

Front
8.5 x 245/40/19 +14

Sticks out a bit more than I'd like. Running thinner tires and dropping it may help. I ran an offset calculator and it said the fronts stick about 45mm

Rear
9 x 275/35/19 +18 (too damn aggressive)

According to the calculator, they stick out 50mm. Really not a fan of the rear offset.

So, I am going to lower them and possibly run thinner tires, not sure what size yet to see if that makes a difference. The one good thing I tried was putting on the other font on the rear and it actually looked better (forgot to snap pics). I may have to pick up two more fronts and run a square setup. I will lower first and then possibly change tires and then go from there.

So what do you all think?

try running skinnier tires.
a slight stretch.

but, until you're dropped, it'll look like ass.

I suggest sourcing the coils, and you'll want coils, first.

P.s. the third gen TL guise have been playing with air a lot lately.
it provides and rides like a coil over but has the ability to sit how ever you want it.

Id actually be content with the aspec setup it just hard to find. I dont necessarily want coils as I just wang to belower and dont need all the options. I thoughgt about air initially but my pockets aint that deep haha. Im gonna try another tire size to see how much difference it makes. Lowering will definately come in time.

Choc, I didn't realize you were Mexican. That setup is mexiflush!

How is lowering the car going to make the wheels stick out less?

Haha, I don't discriminate! I was thinking of who used to run wheels like that. It reminds me of a vehicle in one of those 90s movies like Boyz n tha Hood or something with I think it was a Suzuki Sidekick/Chey Tracker I think.
If I run skinnier/thinner tires and lower, I'll have the natural effect of negative camber. Either way, Im going to find a way to run these wheels. I like them.

camber bro camber!

as the car squats (or in his case, lowers the car) the natural camber will tuck in the wheels.
you can also play with camber to get the car how you want it to sit.

HOWEVER, and this is a big HOWEVER....he wont achieve that by aspec springs

he's better off selling those rims and buying a better set with better specs.

sorry to tell you, you wont achieve the "stance" you are looking for with aspec springs.

sell the rims and buy something with better specs that fit your car.

Thats exactly what I been thinking. I dont have time to source out the aspec for such a mild drop. Hopefully the shocks hold up! haha

A drop isn't going to put enough negative camber to tuck those wheels. 275/35R19 on a 9" +18 wheel...it's gonna fucking rub like crazy in the rear. I'd be surprised if it's not already.

I agree...I dont and never planned on running this rubber. They came with the wheels and at $250, I couldnt go wrong. I just wanted to test fit to see if the rim suits the car. Im going to look into what size rubber I can go with these or If I pick up another set of fronts and run a square setup. These didnt rub at all and cleared with no problem.

I would put new stock struts on while they have the old ones off.

That's plenty. 100k mi (I realize you used the wrong metric) will cause a very significant difference in the RL ride. With such a plush system, new shocks will be a world of difference.

I would still do it while they have everything off. You are going to pay $200+ in labor just to get the springs on.

Shocks don't just rely on miles either. They have been supporting a 2 ton pig for 8 (?) years now. Every time they lift the car, the shocks get stressed. We have seen a lift blow shocks as low as 50k miles.

as soon as the car gets set on the road, the shocks start to wear.

you could have them blow prematurely or last several hundred thousand miles.

So Im going to look at possibly purchasing the Aspec shocks, HR springs and running a set of the fronts on the rear (8.5 x 245/40/19 +14) so its square with probably a 225 tire. On top of that, rolling the front fenders a bit.

Has anyone had them rolled?
