Just installed some Michelin pilot a/s

All i can say is GREAT TIRES. The traction is verryyy good. Handling is good. They are not the most quiet tires out there. In my opinion though traction is most important aspect in tires.... Anyone else have these? How long did they last you?

I put them on after 50K on the OEMs. They are quiter than the originals with better traction. I have about 35K on them now, still good tread left.

replaced OEM at purchase with A/S. Now replacing A/S with same after 36.5k miles. Hurry, the tire is being discontinued and not being made in the size in the A/S plus. This leaves only the OEM and the Dunlop 5000 as options.

Not to worry, there are options from yokohama, bridgestone, goodyear and others that fit the bill, at least for the 18 inch rim. When you visit tirerack simply use the filter for ultra high performance all season, BTW that doesn't include the OEM michelins which don't fall in that category. The RL's 17 inchers are probably the dorkiest paert of the whole package thus the time to swap tire is a good excese for new rims too

the 245/50/17 are the ones being discontinued by Michelin, There are no other options for 17" OEM tire size. Yoko, BF Goodrich, Pirelli, Goodyear and most others do not make any tires in this size regardless of performance style. Bridgestone makes the Turanza with Serenity, and Toyo makes the Versado LX. Both are touring tires like the OEM Michelin MXM4

I swapped out the stock tires and rims for the 18in A spec rims and pilot sport A/S at purchase . . .Thus, I have a extra set of stock rims and tires. . . I replaced the pilot sports A/S @ about 50 K . .great tires but expensive

I've been looking pretty hard at the toyo's, they are cheaper than bridgestone and Michelin, but still pretty expensive. My local retailer wants $916 installed (excl. 7% tax) plus free lifetime rotation. works out to about $210/tire plus $19 balance and mount. Not cheap. I can get them for about $150 online, but it's $100 to ship, plus have to get them installed (no tax)

I am also looking at the General exclaim UHP (about $125/tire), which the manufacturer says is an all season tire, but the tread sure doesn't look like it. It's also a W rated tire, which i can't believe will do well in the snow, let alone last very long

245/50/17 Pilot A/S installed this AM $236/tire including install, and balance.
The best deal I've seen is around $225 installed at Costco or Sam's after Michelin $80 instant promo only at the clubs.

Make sure you fill them with 32 psi of pure Nitrogen, you will not believe the improvement in road noise and ride quality.
