Heavy vs the rear sway bar upgrade.

After reading all of your threads about this mode I decided to go for it.

First off, the front sway bar is no different and I payed a restocking fee to prove that.

The rear sway bar is an increase from 17mm to 19mm.

The part numbers are:
  • Rear Sway Bar, PN 52300-sja-a11, $65.68
  • Rear Sway Bushing, PN 52306-sja-a11, $11.87 (get two)

The installation is a breeze. Take the brackets off and unhook the end links.

The hardest part was the end links, and pulling the sway bar out passed the exhaust pipe.

There is definitely a better feel in the car, I wouldn't call it "stiffer" but more stable in the corners for sure.

It is a cheap easy mod that most of you will appreciate.

Now for a random rear tire pic.

Also, celery, grape jelly, Cap'n Crunch with the little Crunch berries, pizzas. We need two big pizzas, man, everything on 'em, with water, whole lotta water, and Funyons.

I was skeptical too, but it seems legit unless its all in my head... but that's ok too.

Yes 253, we put special balanced and matched tires on during the last pit stop.

2mm may seem like it wouldn't make that big of a difference, but it actually is a stiffness increase of 56%.

example:
% increase in "stiffness" = (larger bar diameter/smaller bar diameter)^4

(19/17)^4 = 1.56; 56% increase

If you compare the shapes of the swaybars, I don't think so.

05+ RL rear swaybar

09+ TL rear swaybar

Different chassis code, different wheel base, different size car... That would be a long stretch.

Quick question for those that installed the 09 rear sway bar - did you have to drop the exhaust pipes? Thanks.
