H&R lowering springs

Well I now have my oldest son interested in getting my 2005 RL when my Z06 comes in. He had coilovers on his 2003 Passat 1.8T and was wondering what kind of suspension options there were for the RL. Does anyone have the H&R lowering springs on their RL yet? I wonder how they will match with the A-spec shocks? Thanks for any feedback.

Good to see a spring kit out for our cars.

Sport Springs RL 2005+

Drop : 1.50" Front / 1.40" Rear
PN HR-50116

I don't think anyone on here has them yet. Honestly, I don't think anyone knows about them yet.

FYI - overboost.com has these springs for about $250 shipped. They may be cheaper elsewhere, I just haven't dug around.

IMO, I'd probably want to upgrade my shocks at the same time of the installation of these to avoid issues later on down the road. I'd bet the A-Spec shocks are a good start, but hopefully something decent from Koni or Bilstein will be introduced soon.

Glad to see that someone has finally made springs for the car that actually lowers it!

This is WhitePearl_RL's son posting under my Dad's name:

So far it appears the best combination would be the H&R springs with the A-spec shocks... hopefully Bilstein will make an application soon. I wish there was more aftermarket support for the RL stateside!

When I first bought my Passat I ran the Eibach Pro System and it was way too soft. I then upgraded to the H&R sport springs with Bilstein Sport shocks and it was perfect until I finally swapped to FK coilovers. I would be happy with just a good spring/shock combination for the RL, we will see what happens!

Well I don't have them for the RL, but I do for my TL. Excellent springs. I have had my H&R's for 5 years 100k miles. They have performed outstanding for a long period of time. One of the only few aftermarket parts that has no broken in my car and still performing like new. Highly recommended.

Can't seem to find them on Overboost anymore. Anyone know a good source around $250 shipped?

ASP, are you thinking of getting the H&R springs? If so, would you keep the stock shocks or use the A-spec shocks?

I second that. Looks like this is the only option.
