Fixing Damage to 18" 2006 RL Wheel

Made a U-Turn today and dang it, I came up 1/4" short and ground my rim. What is the best way to fix this: polish or chrome? I showed it to our resident gearheads at work and they said the A-Spec 2006 wheel's finish looks like it is polished aluminum. Is that correct? Thanks for your help and advice.

The wheel is not bent but the picture does not show the full extent of the grinding. The car was only going maybe two mph as I was easing it through the u-turn. It must have been a 1/4" or possibly less away from missing the curb and that made the grinding all the worse.

Thanks for the help. It looks like a fix can be done but the wheel will need a day or two for the protective finish to dry according to the link above.
