de-paxing rl

I finally decided to depax my 07 rl for 2k out the door. Getting Yokohama 18's and American racing "mavericks", new tpms , lugs and wheel locks and a donut spare..it was a hard $$ decision but basically same price as new tires...just need a jack... have 4 pax wheels now with tpms..tires are worn completely..what should I do w them, Craigslist or eBay? How much could I get for the own wheels..a couple have small scratches but basically good condition.

Congrats, let us know what you think of the set up....and definitely take pictures!

Even at 28 lbs, the American Racing wheels are much lighter than the PAX set up. Tell us if you notice any difference in the way the car handles. I am guessing you will delete about 70lbs of unsprung weight.

Regarding selling them, I would be surprised if you could sell them with no tread life left, but you can always try. I suppose rather than trashing them, if you have room in your garage, you might sell them with the car, because of the potential safety/liability issue associated with the car equipped with non-PAX tires. See the discussion below...the liability is probably small, but in our law suit happy society, you never know. Of course, let anyone that drives the car know that in a low pressure situation, do not follow the MID directions.

Anyone know where I can get a cheap spare tire kit. I didn't participate in the class action, because none of the settlements seemed to fit my need at the time. Acura wants over 400 for the spare rim by itself.

Look at auto salvage yards. The spare tire/wheel is very expensive otherwise. The styrofoam insert and clamp are not bad from an internet Acura dealer.

* Trunk Spacer Assembly (Part number: 84542-SJA-A00)
* Adapter - Spare Tire (74651-S2x-003)
* Bolt - Spare Tire (74652-SDA-003
* Label - Spare Tire Adapter - Not really needed but cheap (74653-SJA-003)
* Nut - Wheel (90304-SHJ-A91) - You probably only need 5. The PAX wheel nuts do not fit, wrong seat, for the spare.

I saw those part no's but wasn't sure what to do with them.. I mean I know I can call Acura but like you said the wheel itself is like 450 for the donut.. tireless..

Here are the PICs went with American Racing "Maverik" 18's and Yokohama's..

Nice photos!

As for the parts,
Here is a link (look for part 6, you currently have part 33 because you have PAX car. Part 33 takes up the entire spare tire area as compartmented storage and tool holder.
* Trunk Spacer Assembly (Part number: 84542-SJA-A00) - this is a styrofoam insert that goes inside the wheel of the spare. The styrofoam insert holds the tools like the lug nut wrench, jack, etc

Here is a link (look for parts 11, 12, 13)
* Adapter - Spare Tire (74651-S2x-003) - round disk to hold the spare in place against the trunk floor via bolt below
* Bolt - Spare Tire (74652-SDA-003
* Label - Spare Tire Adapter - Not really needed but cheap (74653-SJA-003)

Again, see if you can pick up the spare wheel and tire as a complete unit from an auto salvage yard. They are now linked into networks for part supply. I have been told several years ago we were talking under $200, but who knows what the price is. You can also find all of these parts on ebay every once in a blue moon.

I found the instructions to the spare tire kit for PAX. It is a good explanation. In addition, this kit was available from Acura dealers for about $550
