Another Tire Advice Thread
My friend with the 05 RL is experiencing an uneven wear problem on the rears, scalloping of the tread, and now they are getting pretty noisy.
The previous owner went with General Tire, and my friend was happy with them on his car until this uneven wear developed. With the amount of driving he does he's OK with these till his snow tires go on at the end of October, but is wondering what to get for next spring. He doesn't like the ride of my 06 which feels a lot "firmer" on the road with the OEM Michelins, he prefers more of a luxury sort of comfortable ride and feel that the Generals seem to give.
Any suggestions? He also wants to stick with an allseason tire even though he runs proper snow tires in the winter months as he lives out in the boonies there are sometimes freak snow/freezing rain events that happen in early fall/early spring and no sign of the plow/salt truck.

He could get better Michelins or the new Generals. I have general on my black rl there pretty good and Falken on my white rl. Just keep in mind every tire gets noisier when they ware down.

I am not sure about the price of the Generals, but Continental DWS are great bang-for-your-buck tires and much cheaper than OEMs. They are the essence of luxury sedans as they are very beefy. This results in a quiet, soft ride. It won't rain here so I don't know, but I heard nothing but great things about weather performance.
