Affordable custom 2G RL wheel option
I am a newbie on this site but wanted to throw this out there for anyone looking for quality aftermarket wheels for the 2G Acura RL.
I'm pretty picky (also determined) and have been looking for quality wheels for literally years and keep coming up empty. With a BMW bolt pattern (5H x 120mm) and a Honda offset (+55mm) and smallish hub bore (64.1mm) the options are fairly limited unless you spend big money ($1000+ per wheel) or you compromise somewhere along the line.
I stumbled on this site www.velocitymotoring.com while looking one day, and like Emeril says.. BAM! This company makes VMR wheels and although they focus on European makes like BMW, Audi, Mercedes and VW they are willing to take on a challenge.
I had them order up a set of blank wheels (mine are the V-810's which are flow formed/rotary forged like the Enkei MAT process) and custom drill the center bore and bolt pattern to fit my RL. Furthermore their people are top notch and know their stuff. I worked with Mitch and we figured out the best possible wheel diameter, width and offset to fit the car.
The result? A beautiful set of 18x8.5" wheels that only weigh 20.3 lbs each Oh BTW, they were only $1200 for the whole set of 4 including shipping!
I will post some new pics once we complete the other mods.

Look forward to seeing them, what offset did you settle on?

Nice but you could have saved $50 and another 2lbs/wheel and gone with TSW Nurburgrings. They are an 18x8 with +35, come with hubcentric rings and fit the RL with no rubbing whatsoever. There's even an additional $75 in instant savings on them right now.

For reference, RonJon Sport Design makes wheels specifically fit for Honda/Acura vehicles. They come with OEM bolt pattern and center bore specs. The 18x8 wheels Ron produces for the 2G RL are a +38 offset. Not really much different from an 18x8 +35 wheel and those are specifically made for our cars.

Hey Dogg, Thanks for the tips about the Nurburgring's. I tried a set of those in the machined face but just did not like the look. The Matte Graphite was a bit too dark on my color. Gotta love those beefy hub centering rings. I have a set of TSW Londrina's on my wife's MDX though. They make a great wheel.
I looked at RonJon, and almost bought them too but my neighbor has had issues with the finish on his Legend wheels. The other styles they have only come in 19 and 20's and I can't do that with our roads.

I had Londrinas in my RL for a year before I switched to the Jerez.
