09 TL wheels fit 05-09 RL's
Hey guys i just spoke to christine from Acura of Lynnwood and she confirmed that the 09 TL's carry the same lug pattern as our 2g RL's. she said they did test fit the 17'' standard wheel off the base 09 TL's onto a Rl and it cleared the calipers...so i'm thinking 19'' accessory wheels but not a big fan of either
i also included the ebay auction listing where they saying that
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...mZ370097757888
i am also selling my stock 17'' with michelin tires (60-70% tread) LOL

this is also quoted in another acura dealer auction who is selling the 19'' accessory wheels for 09+ Tl's
"THIS TL WHEEL IS THE FIRST YEAR ACURA HAS USED THIS 14MM LUG AND 5X120 PATTERN SO IT WILL NOT FIT ANY OTHER TLS. "

Interesting information, and contrary to what is on the 4G TL board, but it does not surprise me that the TL has the same sized lugs and bolt pattern as the RL and MDX, both of which also have SH-AWD. The 4G TL board leads one to believe that the FWD TLs stick with the 5x114 and the 12x1.5 lugs, although the belief was that the SH-AWD TL would have the 5x120 bolt pattern....

well according to those 2 dealers both fwd tl and shawd uses the same lug pattern and offset because it would be more cost effective that way rather than have 2 different lug pattern. They would have enkei make the same wheel with different lug pattens..eh and as far as the same lug pattern for the sh-awd vehicles doesnt apply to the RDX, i wonder why? i'm thinking eventually all acura models will switch to 5x120? well atleast the models with sh-awd

Honda has been slowly moving its vehicles to 5x120 pattern.
MY 2005+ RL & Odyssey
MY 2006+ Ridgeline
MY 2007+ MDX
MY 2009+ TL & Pilot.
So I am guessing the next gen RDX will get the 5x120

09 TL Wheels will not Clear front 2g RL Calipers
I just tried to put a set of 2009 TL Wheels and tires on a 2007 RL. The front ones will not clear the Calipers without spacers. Though they are the same size 17 x 8 with 5x120mm 55mm offset they will not work. So Acura of Lynnwood did not do any test fitting.

I was at the dealer getting my RL serviced and was checking out the cars in the showroom. The TL had the 19" accessory wheels and they were really sharp. However, with the tires, they were listed at $3500.

thats what i have been told, even though the tl doesnt use brembos they have big 2 pot calipers. clint said he had a customer with a RL order a set. Now apparently there is a difference in the wheels for each individual model. The FWD TL accessory wheels carry a different part # than the AWD versions for the same 19'' wheel.

I've been considering this, too -- in the vain hopes I could find a set of RL 2009 "take-off" wheels. But the 2009 is so rare that there simply aren't extras floating around. I did this for my 1G Legend Coupe (when from the painted wheels to the much more handsome machined wheels), and again when I had to replace a scratched wheel on my 2G Legend Sedan.
For my RL, it's either an '09 swap or a set of A-Spec wheels when my tires need replacing. A-Specs on ebay are $2449 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Acura...4506.m20.l1116, but I'm not sure about those tires.
I'd consider going to some '09s at a lesser price, even though the A-Spec wheels might be considered better looking. I tend to favor a factory look, even if it would be a hybrid ('06 with '09 wheels). Too bad Acura doesn't have a machined wheel for the RL.

Here's a set of 2009 take-offs on ebay.
Tempting, except I'd really want to see what they look like on my car before pulling the trigger.

Maybe someone can photoshop these onto an '05-'08 RL!

Starting bid (on E-bay) of $1200 might be good if that's what they go for. Keep in mind though that TMPS transmitters ARE NOT inclded on these -- about $140 to replace plus the factory balance was destroyed when the transmitters were removed, so full rebalance will be needed. Based on what complete '05 to '08 take-offs were going for ($750 - $850) a few months ago (completely balanced and with TMPS) this price looks at least $300 too high. I'd bet they go unsold at this starting price. Add in shipping plus other items mentioned and price will be at least $1500 -- too high for take-offs.

I wanted to do exactly that... take the 09 wheels and put them on my Meteor Silver 06 RL... when I inquired at the dealer, it was about $3K for the wheels and tires because the wheels are imported from Japan... I think it's about $2K just for the wheels... a little pricey for me... so I might just stick with the 17's and get some Bridgestone Serenity's when my tires wear out.

Still, it doesn't look half bad.
It just seems like there are more tire choices for the RL with the 18" wheel than the 17" wheel, and the choices for the 17" are pretty expensive. I've got 18K miles on mine, and the fronts are starting to look ready for replacement.
Does anyone know the overall diameter of the 17" and 18" wheel/tire combo? Are they identical? Does the speedometer change if you go 18s?
Sharp looking car, by the way!

How about the 19" rims from MDX and RDX? they are similar to our A-Spec rims with thicker spoke at the end.... I saw the new TSX with them.... do they fit our cars?

That looks pretty damn sweet.. Thanks for taking the time to do the chop Rob. It ALMOST makes me secong guess myself just getting A-Spec wheels, but I got a good deal on them... $1300 for A-Specs! And this photoshop almost looks like 19" whereas I think the second photoshop of them is more like how they would look....
Although, I really like how that looks on 05-08. I'd almost consider getting those for winter time, and then using my A-Spec wheel strictly for summer.. But I think I'll end up putting all-seasons on my A-Spec and if at all, get a larger wheel (19 or even 20 inch) for the summer time (not til next summer tho, can't go crazy all at once), since I don't wanna have two sets of wheels the same 18" size...
I gotta go find some new tires for my new A-Spec wheels today, hopefully....

The Rdx wheels will not fit, because of a totally different lug pattern and the MdX wheels even though the same lug pattern, will not fit because it doesnt clear the front brakes, a lot of people and myself have tried this already.

Chas2: Factory balance weight placement on standard as well as PAX wheels are exactly the same -- adhesive weights on the inside diameter of the rim. Placement, across the witdth of the rim varies, according to the wheel/tire combo balance, runout, etc. I have both and they are identical in the way the factory weights are installed.

I have used this place to get wheels for my mazda which I swear are made out of cardboard because I bend atleast one a year since I have had the car. It is a pretty nice place and will ship to you.
Actually looking at the different wheels that they have I may just pick up the A-spec wheels in the non chome finish.

I bought 09 tl wheels
I have 05 rl and bought tl's 19" wheels. The wheels are from 09 tl SH-AWD w/ tech package and high performance tire model. I think it not from accessory wheel.
Now I looking for tires 245 40 19. it is recommended tire size but I'm thinking 255 40 19 or 255 35 19.
here's the picture of the wheels

i saw those on ebay, i believe the dude was local, ny right? i would love to see how these look on the rl, post the pics and i'd go with 245/40/19 or max 255/40/19. use this calculator to determine your choices http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
