2005 RL- *one pic*

Great shot. How did you do it without blurring the inside?
What kind of exposure did you use, and I guess more importantly, what size sensor did you use, something bigger than a point and shoot?

I will have a much better version of this pic later this week. This was my first attempt, but I have some other ideas for positioning of the camera. I used my Canon 40d. 20 second exposure using my UWA Canon 10-22. The camera was mounted to a heavy duty suction cup, and manfrotto super clamp/magic arm (on the sunroof window).

That is amazing, and I think speaks to the rigidity of the RL, that there is not a lot of interior camera shake evident. Your APS-C sensor (22.5 x 15.0mm) is way bigger than my 6.0 x 4.6mm 1/2.3" sensor on my SX10is, and you have way better glass!
Nice job!

nice photo, post link to equipment, I wonder if it can hold my 5D Mk II w/ 24-105.
So far I bought a non slip matt which would only fit my 50mm and was looking to have something record video while I drive.

As you can see, I attach the equipment via the suction cup to the sunroof. There is also an arrow to illustrate where I hook up my camera to.

It might work. I would just double check the weight capacity. The main reason I have this equipment is for a custom rig. I'm waiting on some aluminum poles and I'll be set. I have two of the suction cups, three clamps, and one magic arm. Here is a pic of the setup for the interior pic:

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm pretty surprised the feedback has been positive. I'm not too happy with it, but hope to have a better shot this week.

Can you tell me how much weight you're putting on that thing?
I wouldn't want my cam to drop if I decide to go this way.

1. Magic arm (heavy.. maybe about 3 lbs)
2. Canon 40d
3. Canon 10-22
4. Clamp (pretty light)
I'm not sure how much more your 5DMII weighs, but I'm gonna say the suction cup is REALLY heavy duty, I'm sure it can hold more then advertised. This is also just an idea of how to do this. You don't necessarily need all these parts. I just happen to have them as they are part of my rig setup. There may be other options such as maybe a gorilla pod attached to the headrest, etc. Just gotta be creative. My method is an expensive one.

now that you're trying to stop me from copycatting you I will go back to my method.
Put a non slip $4 mat on the front of the car, load up the 50mm F1.4 lens as a bigger one would hint the windshield and drive until it falls off...
MK II is probably in the 2-3lb range, 24-105 is also round 2lb.
I guess it can't hurt to test it with the $4 matt first and small lens.

Not 100% sure, but you gotta figure the suction cup is holding:
1. Magic arm (heavy.. maybe about 3 lbs)
2. Canon 40d
3. Canon 10-22
4. Clamp (pretty light)

If it's just for recording video, that might work fine. Actually, you don't even need the magic arm or clamp if you want to try the suction cup method. You just need the suction cup and some adapter to fit on the camera.
