Ok, I have seen some folks post that the USASpec PA11 HON2y is compatible with a 2005 RL. Using the instructions, it says that it is only compatible with the 2006 (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/pdf/pa11-hon2y.pdf). See page 6.

I am talking to a local car stereo company that says there is no solution for my 2005. While I have never taken apart a car, I am very handy with other electronics. I build all my home computers.... Is there any possibility that I could do this myself? If so, has anyone put together a step by step instruction manual? I dont want to take apart my $50k car, just to ruin the trim.

I have the USA Spec unit and am waiting for a free block of time to install it in my 05 RL. I also ordered the ProClip mount specifically for the RL and the holder for my Dell DJ 20.

 

I too have a 05 RL and I reseached various sites and found it was capatiable with the USA Spec. You must ensure you have the USA SPEC PA11-HON2Y model. I'm planning on installing mine next week some time.
