An unplanned trick with the RL + Iphone
People may have already realized this, but if not, its a neat side feature of the RL that the iPhone brings to the table.
Not for sure if all iPhones have this, but you'll want voice command and your iPod connection to the car (i have the USA-Spec PA15-ACUXL
One of the drawbacks of our hands free link is that we have to manually add phone numbers and record our voice to use it with our phones, but such is not the case.
when you iphone is connected to the car and playing music, use the iphones voice control to call someone. the iphone, being paired to your car, will automatically dim the music, and will use the cars microphone and speakers to let you enter your command. if you have your phone mounted in an accessible area, it completely negates the need to use the car's hands free link.
Even better, for those with a big music library, you can use the voice command to play an artist or album to listen to the music you want and bypass the trouble of using the car's stereo to navigate your ipod!
-------------------
It's easier to just try instead of reading someone explain. pair up your iphone with your car and connect it with your ipod harness, and play around with the voice control on the iphone. Its really neat. The way its designed would make one think that it was specifically designed with the RL in mind.
For ipod mounts i've selected proclipusa.com. they provide mounting solutions that are custom tailored for both the car and the phone. this means no drilling, cutting, and no permenant damage. for iphone 4 users, they have mounts designed to holdthe phone WITH the bumper case, so its a "seamless" transition from your pocket to your car.

I tried that but even though it took the command through the car's bluetooth, it calls through the hand set and I have to manually switch it once the call connects. I hate that you cant patch it over while it's ringing.
