Steering wheel emblem

Any advice on how to get the emblem out of the steering wheel? Without taking the steering wheel apart of coarse

Would the regular fishing line method work here, as done when debadging a car?

That's what I'm thinking but I feel like I've read about someone removing it before...

should be held on by some type of interior glue that bonds plastic to whatever material the airbag cover is? plastic?
could probably disolve the adhesive with warm water, possibly?

Don't know about 2009-up but the 2005-2008 KB1 airbag emblem is recessed into the bag and has pins on the back of it that are melted down to keep the emblem from falling out. The only way I found to remove it is to slightly pry it up on one corner and carefully cut the pins all the way around with an X-ACTO knife, I did it to replace my emblem which had lost it's chrome, here's a replacement emblem from eBay. Other than that, why would you want to remove it?
