sound cuts out

I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else. While driving on the highway, listening to a CD, all of a sudden, the sound cuts out. I then switched to XM, thinking it was the CD, then the radio, AM and FM and all was silent. The car still talked to me as it announced the mode when I switched from XM to radio, etc. so the speakers worked, just no sound!
When I got to work I turned off the car, and then restarted it, and the problem was gone. This has never happened before, and since I still have time and miles left on my extended warranty I wanted to see if it has happened to anyone before.
