The panel looks the same on all RL's from 2005-2012. I have a 2007. I assume by 2012 you could do more with the unit like stream audio and import contacts. Things not available in my 07. Are all of these features built into the radio itself? If I found a junked RL from maybe 2010 or 2012, could I pull the radio and just plug it into my 07?

 

I've been looking at the same conversion myself. It appears the bluetooth HFT modules are where these bluetooth features actually live. The connectors on this module appear to be different, but I don't know if you'd then just need the newer radio and the cable that goes from the radio to the HFT module or if there is more involved. I am curious to know though!

 

The navigation harness changed from 32 pin to 20 pin between 2008 and 2009. That's not to say the head unit isn't the same, but things that look the same may not be as they appear. Part numbers can usually paint a good picture.

 

2009 can stream bt. Nav is still super dated.
