Which phone is connected to BT oddity

I need to experment with this farther and go back and read the manual again - but...

My wife and I both have Motorola E815 (?) phones - not that I think it matters that they are both the same model - I think this would happen with any 2 BT phones that have been set up with the car. Each phone has a different device name.

When we both get in the car together, the car connects with whichever phone it was connected to last, no matter which key unlocked the car.

Here is what I mean:

My wife drives the car (it is HER car afterall) and comes home, parks and locks it. We go out together, I unlock the car. When I start the car, it displays the "Welcome Driver 2" message (see - I know my place ) and the seat, wheel, mirrors, audio, etc., etc., change to my settings. But - I use the hands free to place or receive a call - and it is on her phone.

If I drop her off and drive away - it switches to my phone. Then if i go meet her, lock the car, go find her and come back out and then she unlocks the car (Welcome Driver 1 ) it is still connected to my phone.

Odd - I was under the impression that it would pair with the active driver's phone.

But how would it know which is your phone? I don't remember identifying a linked phone with a driver.

Agreed. I think it just prefers the last device that was linked. You could always just say "Next phone" and it will switch to your phone.

I thought it was by which driver was active when the phone was paired - guess not. But now I know how to change to the other phone - I know - RTFM.
