when i got into my car this morning i noticed that the Onstar button was RED and it did not go away. i tried pressing the blue button it said not available. Does anyone know what could be wrong with the sysyem?

I would appreciate your help- I have the CPO and extented warrenty on the car, would this be covered for this issue?

 

Solid red light indicates that you are not in an area where OnStar service works. OnStar uses Verizon Wireless towers for their service. If a Verizon cell tower is down in your area, then that may be the reason why it's red.

Try driving for about 10 miles, turn your car off, then back on. If it's still red, I would call OnStar. I would not bother with calling the dealer, as they will just tell you to call OnStar since they no longer support it.
