I just bought a 2005 RL over the weekend that's in great shape, but I'm still getting used to the whole key fob thing.

In particular, the car only had the fob for Driver 2. Worse still, the car doesn't seem to recognize it as Driver 2. It just says "Welcome" instead of "Welcome Driver 2". As a result, I cannot use the address book or any of the other personal memory functions that should be available.

I've checked the manual but do not seem to be able to figure out how to correct this. Can anyone help?

 

I just picked up an RL recently too. I noticed that it just says Welcome when you get in the car. But when you start it, it will say Welcome Driver 2. You should still be able to get access to the adress book, but you need to press the small set up button, lower right corner, to add an adress. Also you could go into the Diagnostic menu (MAP+MENU+Cancel), and see which Remote it thinks it sees, Should Say Drive1, Driver2 or Guest. Perhaps, if you are identified as a guest you may not be able to see the address book, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

 

OK, will check that. But out of curiosity, what would cause it to say "Guest"?

 

It sounds like the remote fob is not linked to the car.

Further, in order to access Driver 1 Settings, your ill need a Driver 1 remote. You may be able to find one on EBay, then have it programmed to your car (by a dealer). You will then have Driver 1 and Driver 2 Settings capability.
