Checking the acuranavi.ca site and it looks like there are two different nav disc upgrade packages depending on whether it's a 2005 RL or a 2006. The package for the 2005 contains three discs - a "software update" DVD, and the gray and white map discs, while for the 2006 it's just a two disc package of gray and white.

Is there something unique about a 2005 vs 2006?

 

i don;t know much about canada site but in us they only come with 2 discs one is for the software update and teh other is for navi. The different is about software version like the other have told me, if you have version above 4.3 you will be fine if you buy the upgrade of only one disc. But if your software version is 4.13 like me you would have to buy 2 disc or you vould borrow someone disc to update

 

Here we always have two discs in the set - one is detailed Canada mapping, the other is detailed US mapping and "southern Canada".

If all you enter on the site is the year and model of your car, how do they know what discs you already have vs what you need (for the software updating) if you've already done some updates from the versions the car originally came with?

 

i don't think they consider that is the case. I think that they will only consider if you have 2005 then you have had never updated your map so they will include the other disc

 

Well the only thing is if I have an 06 and have never updated the maps, how do I know the 2011 upgrade for the car which only has the two discs (one for Canada, one for US and southern Canada) is going to work if there is no software update disc included?

 

As long as you tell them what you have ie correct model year, they should send the right disc(s).
