Navigation System

Happy Holidays!

I have a 2006 Acura RL--great car with On Star and all wheel drive. However, the navigation systems washes out in direct sunlight--it is so dim that I can't even see it. Does anyone know if Acura can install a brighter light? I've tried hand-held Garmins and they don't fade--they're great!

Thanks for any suggestions!!

Jeff

I seem to have the same issue in my '05. Messed with the black level and brighness settings, but didn't get much out of it.

without a doubt, these screens are darker than I would want...especially in direct sunlight. The brightness is directly affected by the temperature of the screen. When the car warms up on a cold day, it takes about 1/2 hour to come up to its full potential.

When I first turn it on, its like a grey color background, and once it fully warms up, it becomes like a cream color background.

I tried adjusting the brightness--still fades in direct sunlight.

Larrynimmo---I never noticed that but now that I think about it--it's true. The colors are a bit clearer after the car warms up.

I am going to contact my dealer to see if they have any suggestions.

Any other thoughts?

Regards,
Jeff

Yesterday was the first time I noticed the screen was a bit on the light side-it was 45 degrees in the garage. Once warmed up it was back to life. Fortunately it rarely gets that cold here for an extended period pf time.
