Navigation Screen Night color

Tonight I started my RL and the nav screen did not go to the night time color , Had to reboot the system (turn the ignition switch a bit ) then all was ok. Happened once before. I must be the only one since I don;t see any other posts or no one else drives at night..right?

Anyone else every have this happen ?

If you hold down the map, menu, and cancel buttons for five seconds, you should get a "secret" menu that lets you chagne the color.

No, I've never seen this happen before.

What do I do after the secret menu appears?

I drive a TL, and I know mine is different from a TSX, so it's probably different enough from yours that I couldn't tell you, but I know holding down the menu key once I'm already in the secret mode brings up a double-secret probation programmer's menu. There's another place where you can hack the navi to start up with a different picture than the Accra planet thing. I have mine set to look like a windows 95 blue screen of death when I start my car, and I erased the nag message text. (still have to hit "go" though) This menu lets me change color settings for day mode and night mode. Mostly though, you should just explore the stuff in the menus. You never know what goodies are in there. I'm sure the RL does more than mine. It damn well better for the price diff.

You don't need to go into the hidden menu (diagnostics tools) to change the background color. You go through the navi setup - which I am sure he has already done because he says the color has changed.

What you are talking about is the diagnostics menu - you can test various functions of the nav and voice commands. You can see where the GPS satellites are. You can test the screen itself for other problems. You do NOT want to change ANYTHING in here unless you explicitly know what you are doing. This goes for all three vehicles - TSX, TL and RL. The diagnostics function menu is very similar in all three (I have owned all three).

As far as your night time mode changing to a different color. I am not sure why, but it is probably jsut a glitch. It sounds like it reset itself like how other people complained about losing the presets for the XM.

Can't you undo it all like when I hacked my navi and you just start the car with no disc and then put the factory one in and hold down two buttons?

My XM radio did that too. I figured it was an XM corp tactic to get the trial users to try new channels.

Not to discount your computer knowledge but all your advise abour the RL is speculative and may get someone to do something they shouldn't.

Many if not all the RL original (Early preduction) OEm NAVI DISKS were replaced because of issues and return postage was provided for the old discs. Therefore
what you suggest would not be possible.

No. Many of the options are stored in the cars ECU - not the nav. (From what an acura tech has told me)
