Any help or thoughts appreciated here...

05 RL with Navi, was slow to respond to maintenance/feature messages and took it in. Dealer replaced nav head unit and DVD disk. Now the nav system does not track the location of the vehicle. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. When it does not, the system reports the car at a stand still even though I am 1,2,5,10,100 miles away. When it starts to work there is no discernable reason why, I did not just go over a bump, restart/reboot, nothing.

The intermittant nature made me think it was a bad antenna connection but I looked at it and all was good. Also, it stops and starts working on completely flat roads and there is no change on bumpy roads.

The dealer has replaced the head unit a second time but cannot figure it out. When they put in the new unit it worked for about two miles. Then we immediatly took it back and it started working again as we got into the dealership parking lot. Then it worked for three days and then stopped again. Dealer is aware and said they will continue working on it but had no ideas.

Any ideas or thoughts?

 

Did you install any 'metalic' tint on your windows? I agree that it sounds like an antenna problem.

 

No tint. Car is entirely factory - no upgrades other then wood steering wheel and shift knob.
