How to get navigation serial number 2006 RL

My battery drained and I lost my Navigation access only. No one had the codes the original dealer, Acura, and the previous owner would not call me back.
I went by a shop that repairs interiors to see if they would remove the trunk lining so that I could see the serial number which is required to obtain he code from Acura. He came out with a Snap-on Video Inspection Scope and in 2 minutes he read off my serial number. No charge I will take them doughnuts and coffee on morning.

Cool story bro.

You can get the serial number through the diagnostics menu. Menu + Info + Cancel I believe.

I purchased a 2007 Acura TSX which is perfect except the NAV screen is cracked. The salesman told me I could get a replacement from Ebay and have cartoys install it. Well I found out thats not true. With the security codes required you can't just buy one and install it from what I'm reading. Does anyone know HOW I can get the screen repaired/replaced?

It cracked when I slammed on teh brakes to avoid a car and a Can of Coke flew from the back seat and landed pefectly on the screen

Try the TSX forum for accuracy, but you should be able to plug any same model screen in and use it's unique code.

However, I won't post on a public forum to tell you how. Acura dealership should know what to tell you to do. It's not 1234 or 0000... that's BS.

Alternatively, post an email address and I will email you how. Since your a newbie you can't use PM yet.
Was wondering how or is it just taking the radio out and getting it off that? I use the word "just" very loosely. Haha

Hey guys, I have purchased a new battery and put it in so now need to enter my code. When I press volume button I can enter by the disk buttons. Problem is, there is 1-6 and my 4 digit code has 0's in it... How do you enter a 0???? Thanks.

Help....I just bought a 2001 MDX with a Blank Navigation Screen. The radio works fine . I've pulled the Vav. dvd player and radio out to check for any loose , bad connections . All seems good. I did notice the serial number on the back of the screen is not the same as the number on the security code card . which tell me that the screen was replaced before. My questions are : what can cause the display screen to go Blank / Black ? Will the original nav. code work with a non original screen? Thx.

I think Steve is long gone. Even if he is around, he never knew about this thread. Whenever you see a quote, you can click on the little blue ">" next to the OP's username to redirect to where the post came from. For those trying to contact Steve, I recommend reading the thread linked below first, and PM'ing him if you don't get your answer.

Just had this problem as well and after searching online I found this community glad I did. I couldn't find my Navi code . Don't have original manual, didn't know how to take out the DVD in the trunk to check for serial number so I could enter it on the acura website. They did however send me my radio code which I didn't need. After reading all these comments and noticed one that said check the fuse box well lol and behold it was in there!!! As easy as that!! So yes the code should be in the fuse box under the hood. Woo-hoo thank you!!! AcuraZine!!

First Post on this forum. I just bought a 2001 MDX with 293K miles. I went back and forth to the Duluth (GA) Acura dealer and they were most helpful in getting me the radio and navigation codes. I have since seen a page on the Acura Owners site where they'll do it on-line with your VIN and serial numbers. The first thing I learned was that the serial number on the back of the display isn't the one they need for the Navigation system. I had to pull the DVD drive unit, which on my model is located under the passenger seat.

Something I figured out on my own is this: This legacy navigation system apparently doesn't have the option of operating without a PIN and you must enter it anytime you wish to use your address directory or even go home. And I didn't know the PIN. Turns out, it either is, or became (after removing the battery) the same as the unlock code. I immediately changed it to "1111" as I regard it as just a nuisance.

I have a question: I cannot get the on-screen AC controls to work. The boxes (MODE, AC, FAN) are blank, as is the outside temperature. Anyone know if it's something simple? I've had the radio, navigation, and the disc drive all out and only found one strange thing: There are five cables connected to the drive unit but a sixth cable, green with two or three conductors, lays loose under the seat. Any ideas would be appreciated. I think I'm going to like this car as my hauler (replaces a same vintage Sienna.)

^We definitely appreciate the info. I would venture and guess this is a model specific issue? I would search thru the MDX sub-forum on this site to see if this a reported issue, if not, I'm sure a member there will probably be able to point you as to the way to tackle that.

When we purchased the car the dealer said not to enter a pin so we did'nt. Called dealer and spoked to serv. rep. who said to enter 1234 or 0000. That did'nt work. The wife kept trying and now the nav sys screen comes on then flashes the enter pin screen for 1/2 second then goes dark. I have tired rebooting, disconecting batt. Still does the same thing. Anyone with any ideas? Otherwise I'll take it to the dealer but our dealer here has a bad rep with service.

Thanks for any help!
FYI - I have just had the same problem. Turn the car off and then back on. When the Navi screen first lights up press and hold the big round Interface Dial until the code screen pops up. Enter the code from the anti-theft card or contact Acura for the code as directed farther down in this string.

You will have to pry about 4 clips and push your trunk liner up to see the serial number of the actual DVD Navi drive. There is NO alternative unless you have the ID card that given in the user manual.
