Navi Hack on 05 RL
Hey guys,
I've been snooping around the forums for sometime now and I love the site. Lots of good information here.
I am looking for information on how to hack the nag screen out of the navi on my 05 RL. I found the following thread (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ight=navi+hack), but that thread just kinda died with no resolution.
Did anybody ever find a hack to get rid of this nag screen? Thanks.
Aaron

I have not bothered to read this but try the TL board. They have a sticky.

I too would like to eliminate the nag screen. I dont think there is a hack for the white disc that the RL uses (and late model TL). Rather than a software mod, I was thinking of eliminating the nag by building a small circuit that would simulate pressing the jog wheel to press "ok". Essentially, a circuit that would wait about 10 sec after the car had been turned on and then momentarily short across the same terminals inside the radio that pressing the jog wheel does. The circuit would just need have two leads soldered at these terminals. If there's no software hack found, I'll probably make my circuit over the summer.

Thanks for your replies, fellas.
I don't think that the link to the TL forum will work for the RL's white navi disc. It seems like that is for the Orange Disc, older versions as well.
If you do actually build that circuit, please respond back to let me know how that works out for you. I'm by no means an Electrical Engineer, so that is pretty much above my head, but if you do build something that works, I'm sure you could probably sell them to people on this forum.
I'm pretty sure that the consensus is that the nag screen is a real NAG!!!
Thanks again.

I read through that thread Chas2 indicated and there's an outfit thats already made a "nag remover" device. They get $50 for it, and just like the design I had envisioned, it requires opening up the radio and soldering a wire from the device to the wire that goes to the Nav jog wheel. I have no problem opening up my head unit (in my former days I was a pro audio installer for 15 years) but I'd imagine not too many others would be willing to do that.

Thanks, I didn't know it was a nag screen - someone told me that it was written by an attorney so I have never read it! (probably the same richard head that puts the de-facing airbag sticker on the sun visor)
