I renewed my XM radio today ($77, second time) and discovered that I now have nav traffic available in my local area (Hampton Roads, VA). I quickly signed up for it and ran out to the car to activate. I placed the radio on channel 1 for approx 15-20 minutes and it would not activate. I am not sure if the problem is from the nav provider or the vehicle nav system. I remember in 2005 that my nav screen showed “traffic” below the scale zoom bar and I am aware that the traffic nav info is only available on the 5 mile to ¼ mile scale. The word traffic is no longer below the scale bar. I suspect that a software glitch has lost my nav traffic function. I plan to visit the dealer.
Any thoughts are appreciated before I take it to the dealer. I would like to confirm from any of you who use nav traffic that the word traffic is visible below the zoom scale.

Have you tried your icons? Try the Show Traffic command.

I said Hide All Icons one time, not realizing traffic was an icon. No traffic after three resets with XM and then I discovered my mistake.

 

Also check your viewable scale on the map. Traffic flow data does not show when 'zoomed in'. The scale that displays when you zoom in / out should display the range where TRAFFIC will display on your NAVI.

 

Yes, thank you very much. You saved me a trip to the dealer. I turn on the traffic icon and it worked. My local area is only active from 0500-7:00 PM but i scrolled north to the DC area and saw the incident signs. Proof that the nav traffic is working...thanks again.
