Made a copy of the Nav disc and it works
I decided to make a copy of my dads navigation DVD and it works great. I took it for a test drive around town and it read and showed everything. It just have to see whether or not it works on long distances like to JKf airport and so on.
I did it on a mac by just coping and then burning the files naming the DVD the same that the original was.
The reason behind this is so that i have the original at home while the copy is in the drive. This way, if anything happens to the drive, i can always have the original there as a backup.

There is no problem with making backup copies of copyrighted material, as long as they're for your own use.
Copyright laws are there to prevent people from profiting from the original author's work or from depriving the author of profits to which he is entitled.
And unless there is some kind of encoding or other copyright protection built in to the disc, there's no reason the copy won't work just like the original.

I am a bit surprised that you could even make a backup copy to begin with, as most (if not all) DVD discs these days come with encoding to prevent dupes, and the RL nav dvd isn't exactly cheap.
