Take it to the dealer. I had the same problem. Well maybe not.

Actually, the dealer said he found nothing wrong with it, and indeed, when I picked it up, everything worked like a charm.

Initial loading I got into the diagnostics screen, did not know what to do. While in the diagnostic screen, somehow I hit some calibration button for the microphone when I had music playing loud...the mic levels on the calibration screen went into overload.

Once I got the commands to get out of diagnostics mode from this forum, help in real time, I might add, the mic would not work. Actually it did work, but I had to yell at the top of lungs any voice command to get it to work.

I took it into the dealer and they kept if for a day and said they went through all the nav voice command branches, though not every command and had no trouble.

When I picked up the car it worked perfectly. Don't know if they did anything or the car reset itself or what.

My issue was that the when I pressed the voice command button, I never heard the beep that indicates you should start saying your command. The phone portion worked just fine of course, and the mic in the diagnostics screen was set at a good level.....

I just found it weird that the voice button would stop working all together. I did have issues with the disk not loading all the time, but when it worked the maps and all were great.

It was an "evaluation disc" but I find it a little hard that one particular thing would stop working while everything else worked fine. My thought was that I may have had to have an intermediary update to go from my version 4.31 to 4.62...maybe 4.55 or something.

anyhow, it seems unique to my situation.

4.63 works

The 4.63 update seems to have resolved any and all previous issues that I had with the disc. It works great now

Miserable:
Sorry, I have not followed your saga in detail...quickly, were you able to upgrade from the original 4.13 straight to the 4.63 on your 05 RL? or did you have to do the leap frogging from one upgrade to the next? My situation is, I have not upgraded since buying my car in 05...thanks

KHC, this isn't directly applicable, but may be close enough: when I bought my '06 recently, it had 4.5x in it and I asked for an upgrade. The dealer pulled a disc out of an '08 on the lot (4.62) and we swapped it into the car. It took a while to load, but it did and it's working fine since. So, I think the answer is that you can jump up without any incremental versions.

As in the other Nav threads, I did have to go thru the incremental updates in order to load 4.63. I had to go from 4.13 to 4.31 to 4.63

4.62 features

My 08 MDX with 4.62 has a phonebook import screen, that is not present on my 06RL running the same version/disk. Are some of the Nav features not upgraded with the disk. When I installed, the software was upgraded, and the version of the disk is the same as the MDX. I thought that they would be exactly the same but some features and menus seem to be different. (not that the phonebook helps me since I have a Verizon Rzr)

The HFL implementation in the MDX is different than the RL. The MDX does support phonebook import, the RL does not. Whether the phone can upload to the MDX is another story.
