What's the latest navi version for a 06 RL and the cheapest way to get a working copy?

Thanks ahead

Yes, 4.81 and you can buy them off of Ebay cheaper than the dealer if you are patient. I have heard dealers get $200 for the disk, and I have seen them go for $125 and up.

Theoretically you just take out the old disk, put in the new disk and wait while the disk reflashes the navi with software updates. Once completed, you are good to go. With earlier (4.7x and earlier) versions you may have software upgrade issues. I think this has been fixed with 4.8x.

In the past, when you ordered, Alpine asked you what year you currently have, and if neccessary, sent you a second disk for one time usage to upgrade from a very old system, say 2005 or some 2006 to the current version.

I only have 4.7x so I don't know what the deal is with 4.8x, BUT if you search, you will find your answer. Actually if you order from Alpine, you should have no problem. If you get from eBay, an earlier version, say 4.6x you will probably have some issue.

As a point of reference, Alpine generally releases a new version in Fall, so since it is only a few months away, you may wish to wait. Really up to you.

Thank you Chas2. I probably should just wait.

Turns out there is an acuranavi site for Canada. For $249 Canadian we get two discs, I assume the US package is just one disc based on my buddy in California saying he just paid $150 US for upgrading his 2006 TL and there was only one disc.

I just brought in a 06 RL from the U.S. to Nova Scotia. The Nav system doesn't work here. Is there a complete map for Canada? Acuranavi.com tells me the Canadian maps are only distances of up to 50 miles into Canada.
