Installing a Powered Subwoofer in 2007 RL

What's the best way to install a powered subwoofer to my 2007 RL? If possible, I want to be able to control it using the settings of my factory head unit.

I will be replacing the car in 3 years so I want it to be easy to remove and revert to the factory subwoofer.

This is what I'm looking at:

That sub will work just fine. You'll need to run a large power wire from the battery to the trunk (not too difficult), and tap into the factory subwoofer wires AFTER they come out of the amplifier.
Probably also want to disconnect the rear mic for the Active Noise Cancellation system to eliminate the nice 50hz hum from your new sub.

Where do I find this rear mic? Also, I just noticed that this sub does not have speaker level inputs. The smaller (10") Infiniti Basslink does have them. Will the 10" make a big improvement over the factory sub? Cost is not a factor for my decision, just good clean bass and a clean install.

I found this on a TL thread. Does this also apply to the '07 RL?

Just pop the little clear covers of each side with a little screwdriver from the outside edge. Then remove 2 8mm bolts and pull the whole assembly down. No need to remove it totally. The green clip is on the driver's side of the housing. Just pull it out and reassemble. It took all of 2 minutes to do.

I don't know why, but you only need to disconnect the rear microphone. Leave the front alone.

To my knowledge, the only the TL-S had ANC, so if it is describing that, then possibly so, but it sounds as if the attachment method is totally different.

The RL has two ANC microphones to sample the environment and feedback the cancelling waves using the subwoofer, just like the Bose noise canceling headphones. One microphone is located in the rear center line, just in front of or behind the reading lights. Looks like a little square with a hole in it. You do have to remove one of the mic leads to disable the ANC, but I recall you had to pry the whole little square out and somehow not rip the headliner to get at the green lead.

Since I accessed the right side area of the trunk to gain access to the subwoofer wires, I just unplugged my ANC unit. It's been a few weeks now, and no ill effects.
