I called XM to turn on traffic, only on my RL. i had allowed my XM to be turned off since 2009 due to the high cost. i called for an Xmas gift to myself to turn on Traffic only. but was told NO traffic for my 2005 RL only audio radio.
i just a few months ago had the free xm/traffic offer sent to my rl.(it worked fine) so what are they talking about?? so the rep gave me 3 month of free XM (because she could not get traffic to turn on) my car radio. Does anyone know what is going on and how can i check this?? i see my traffic icon on the screen sometimes i know it works fine.. whats up with XM service.?

 

I don't think they'll let you sign up for traffic only. If your XM service is active right now, you can try to go online to your XM account and add traffic from there.

 

2 yrs ago just traffic. however,the rep put me on hold 6mins trying to start traffic. said my radio is audio only!? i said what are you saying. she said all acura do not have traffic anymore!! what!! so she gave me audio only.. will someone from XM answer my question. i do not want XM audio just traffic which i had before......

I have a 2005 and the traffic still works fine. I do also have the XM Radio. I have occasionally lost the traffic and had to pull the fuse to reset the system. You will need all your radio codes if you do that but it has fixed mine on the couple of occations that the traffic went away.

You should call them back - Rep probably did not know what they were talking about.

 

All 05 RL's have traffic capability. It is an add on to XM radio. If you require more information regarding your Acura you should check with Acura. If you want consistant BS then talk to XM, if you don't get the answer that you wanted then just call them back. You can continue to do this until the answers start repeating themselves.

 

I renewed my subscription last week, I had Audio and traffic on my 2005 RL for years. They offered me 5 mo audio for 21.56 on a promotion, but they would not give me traffic at the old rate of 3.99 a month they said that rate could not apply with the new promotion the new rate would be 8.99 for traffic a month, so I told them I didn't want the traffic, paid the new rate for audio and was done . I was heading home yesterday and my new service had gone into effect to my suprise they turned off my audio and left on only the traffic (so I know the traffic will work without audio service) when reviewing my account they told me my account consisted only of traffic not audio, it took me 1 1/2 hours on the phone to correct their mistake the last rep was very nice and offered me 6 mo free audio and traffic. I have found that a lot of people at XM are not the best at getting the job done correctly, good luck.

 

told that after the trial of XM then they could turn on traffic... I never called for XM audio i wanted Xm traffic. I am just going to not have xm anymore.. they got to get themselves together!!! Happy New YEAR!!

 

I am having a similar experience with my 2006 RL. I recently called xm and received the $77/yr (+12 royalty fee) and tried to activate xm traffic with no luck. I have contacted xm three times by phone and once by email with no luck. All the reps say "radio only" and then when pressed they tell me they will get it activated but it never happens. This has been going on for over a month. I have had traffic in the past and have the most recent nav version.

 

that XM has a new system in place an it is suppose to make it easier but it making it worse for customer care and customers. I am so angry that i called over 5 times put on hold forever then emailing them . getting different people each time with no idea how to help. then transferring to Dept to Dept.. i gave up.....i wish someone else offered weather etc for our vehicle.

 

Problem fixed! Called xm to again try and have traffic added to my account. CS was able to add traffic and it works perfectly. Added traffic to my $77/yr plan for an additional $42/yr plus xm used today as the start date for the year of service for both traffic and radio.
