The iPod stays on until you cut it off manually, it dies from lack of charge, or it goes to sleep due to inactivity.

I can tell when mine dies because it starts from song 1, but if it goes to sleep and I switch back it picks up where it left off.

I dont get your last question, but you will still have XM2... XM1 will be dedicated to the input for the USASpec

I wasn't aware of having two XM functions, but that is what PVD was asking. The ability to use XM and the iPod without changing the setup.

Yeah the 2G's have XM1 and XM2 (similar to FM) and you hit the XM button to toggle between the two.

So if I am listening to iPod and I want to go to XM I press that button... same with FM or CD. To get back to the iPod I press the XM button again.

If you have the ipod cable in AND an aux cable coming out of the USASpec, how do you toggle between the two?

Unplug one of them. I've never tried using them at the same time.

When I switch to the Aux cable its to watch video and I have to flip the switch to turn the screen on.

Just picked one of these up on e-bay new for $65+ free ship. Install seems pretty easy using this thread, but I don't see anything on how to route the wire from the trunk to the center armrest area and I don't want to leave my ipod/phone in the trunk. Anyone have any instructions on how to do this. I checked the garage, but didn't find anything, maybe I missed it.

Could be bye bye XM if this works as I'll use pandora, which is waaaay better than XM!

Thanks

My route of choice if I were to do it would be through the back passenger door jam and under one of the front seat carpet to the center console. Here is a link to the back seat and door trim removal I did to run my amp wire.

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-90/diy-amp-wire-backseat-removal-813630/

When I was just in front of the B-Column (where your seat belt is) I noticed Acura runs a wire bunch under the seat towards the middle of the car. You may be able to punch a wire under the carpet and pull the cable through to the console. People have claimed to go by the hump in the back seat, but this did not seem viable when I had my seat out.

Yea I plan on running mine under the carpet and where the b pillar(seat belt) is. Mounting the unit under the seat and then bringing the aux cables up through the console. I have my amp wires run the same way but on the passeneger side. Amp is under the passenger seat.

Here was the auction. He was asking $75, I offered $65 and he accepted. Not expected to arrive until next week so can't say yet how good the sale was but looks to be a half price deal for me.

Received the unit from e-bay today, took all of 5 minutes to hook up. Ipod works great, should have done this a long time ago.

Here's the best part, I hooked up my wife's DroidX to the unit and Pandora works perfectly. Using an audio cord with a 3.5 mm jack on one end, I hooked it into the r/l aux ports on the usa spec unit and the other 3.5 mm end into the droid, then moved dip switch 1 on the spec unit to "on" as noted in the manual and low and behold it actually works.

No more need for XM radio. Best $65 i ever spent.

Huge credit to the person that started this thread, never would have attempted this without them.

No, I can't see it either. I meant all of them look the same. They are black with a do not enter symbol in the middle.

The USA spec is an audio interface only. You need the Navtool to hack into the video signal. It simply intercepts the signal from the nav and outputs whatever you please onto the screen. The Navtool does not do audio.

Note that this does not apply to the US 2006 RL's which have the XM module in the trunk.
Hey man, have you figured out which unit works on the Canadian non-xm nav RLs ? I'm a new 05 RL owner and would like to have this i thing get done.

its pretty simple, just take off the plastic piece between rear bumper and trunk, then pull the carpet off that is behind the driver side tail light, until you get behind /near the gas tank. there is xm module!!!. pretty simple. if u need any more help just post.

Has anyone put the cord through the center console cubby? Seems like a good place to put the cord. Does the box stay in the truck area, or do you put it in the front of the car?

I ran mine from trunk through center section of back seat, it still closes. Then pushed wire under seat crease where the seat belt buckles are along the seat until it wrapped around to the front of the back seat and then under passenger seat up to center console. You can only see the wire a little along backseat floor as mat covers most of it. The box sits under passenger seat, iPod and 3.5mm line run up to center console from there. Not the most ideal set up, but definitely least intrusive, and you have to look hard to notice it.

Sorry if this sounds confusing...easier done than said

Here's my take on the installation. I took the easy route, no removing seats or tunneling under carpets/center consoles
