I-015: Nav Audio Volume Low?

This weekend's learning project has been the nav system. While it's the original disc and thus a bit out of date with the new subdivision developments popping up all over the place, it did a reasonable job with the routes I travel every day.

However, I find that at highway speeds the voice prompt volume seems a bit low, and I can't seem to find any way to increase this. It does a fine job reducing the stereo audio automatically when a nav prompt occurs, but the spoken nav voice is still not as loud as I'd like it to be?

Page 85 of the 2006 Manual (Navigation):

Use the Voice Command "Volume Up"

or - Select VOLUME and change setting by rotating the Interface Dial Knob.

Now that's a concept! You forgot to mention "clockwise" for more volume.

Actually, it may not be all that simple. I was having NAV volume issues in that regardless of the volume setting, it was so low I could barely hear it give directions. HERE'S my original post about it.

Turned out to be a problem with the unit which was replaced under warranty. Good news was that when I got it back, it had the new Navi updated disk in it.

But then again, maybe you just need to turn up the volume!

Yeah, I knew about the volume setting in the nav main setup screen, but I was wondering if there is a way to adjust the volume during the prompts of an actual nav routing - when I tried hitting the steering wheel volume while the nav is speaking, it seemed to have no effect. I didn't try the headunit control though, just the steering wheel volume up button.
