Have Radio Code, but it won't take. Ideas?

My battery became disconnected (loose connection to negative terminal), and now when I try to enter the radio code (which I do have) it will not take.

I've serarched the boards, and aside from posts for other models recommending removing the antenna connector from the back of the radio (not something I'm willing to take apart the dash for), or finding an underground parking garage (not common in my neck of the woods) there doesn't seem to be a way out besides hitting up the dealer (pain the you-know-what).

Any ideas on getting my radio to accept its code?

Next morning -- all ready to head out to find an underground parking garage, I tried the code en route, and it worked. So, time seemed to have been the missing element.
