Question FM Transmitters

Has anyone tried those FM Transmitters as a way of intergrating your iPhone/iPods into your RL's audio system? Are the results satisfactory?

I've used one with our iPods with mixed results. It is (at best) OK most of the time but there are areas where the interference just overwhelms the tiny transmitter. Plus it can be hard to find an empty channel at times.

It works well enough that I haven't searched hard for another solution but it isn't even close to the quality and easy of a direct connect.

Thanks for the reply and input scottj. The acura solution, MusicLink, I understand has been discontinued and the other alternatives seem to be too invasive for me. It's a shame not to be able to enjoy the benefits of my iPod while on the road. I may just give the transmitter a try.
