F-018: Fixing the power outlet door

My 05 door has been broken and I've decided to try and fix it...

I found this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=power+outlet

Which mentions a part number:
77297-SJA-003 SPO LATCH List $5.94

Is that for this little guy?

That would seem to be it. Have you looked at the TSB? In the 2G RL garage thread. It looks the same...and has repair instructions

Thanks for that, FYI you dont have to take the outlet off the cover to get the clip out.

I will see if Kaleb can get this out to me.

This worked great thank for the part number and tech sheet. Acura told me replace the console for 275. Ha $4.16 part and 5 minutes to fix something that really bugged me.

Thanks

Right on, good to see someone else took advantage of this.

Thank you for the info...the dealer was suppose to fix this when I bought my RL last year. I guess he "forgot" and I just kind of let it go. Now I can get it done, myself...

I would like to order the part and make this repair. The .pdf mentioned in this thread will not open. Can anyone reply to this thread with an attachement of the .pdf or with the actual TSB date? I can open the TSB, but don't know which one covers this fix.

I've finally found this thread, after a year with this problem (power outlet cover won't stay shut). So now I know the part I need to order ... but can someone share the directions with me, or give me a sense of how it is done? Thanks!

Power outlet door does not open

Just to get an update on this problem, which has occurred on our 2008 base RL, is the part number for this car the same as the one for the 2005: 77297-sja-003? Does the part come from Acura with some directions, or is there a way to get ahold of the TSB for this problem/ Thanks!

More on the power outlet

I was able to get ahold of the pertinent TSB, and learned that the 2005 model differs from the later RLs in this regard. So has anyone managed a fix for the power outlet cover on the post 2005 cars?
Thanks.

The instructions should be the same on '05-'08 cars since the interior is identical.

Thanks for your reply! I looked at the TSB for the 2005 RL and it seems to me from the picture that the power outlet is part of a one piece square that surrounds the gearshift, and that piece can be pulled up over the gearshift, and the outlet cover latch can be replaced from under that piece. But our 2008 has the power outlet in the long section just ahead of the cup holder, not near the gearshift as on the 2005, so it appears that the whole console must be lifted to get at the latch on our car. Is the TSB 08-002 that I have (intended for the 2005 model) the wrong guide for this fix? Thanks.

Would you mind taking a picture and posting it? I'm a little thrown off, as all USDM RLs should be identical. The part should be the same since it's an '08.

Sorry, I have been busy with things like a flat tire (on my Legend)! I'll try a photo for you.

Yes, the power outlet is just to the right of the shifter.

This is not my car, but it shows what's what. same color, too. Unfortunately, I am still confused about the part number for the latch that holds the outlet cover in place. And is that latch that same as the one that holds the cup-holder cover in place? Thanks.

The cupholder latch is a totally separate part number. However, for the power outlet in the center console, it should be the same part # from the first post.
