DVD Navi won't eject

I was trying to upgrade from DVD 4.13b on my 05 RL to 4.63. I ejected the DVD (4.13B) and inserted 4.63 but my navi is stuck in the splash screen/start up screensaver. It just cycles in that screen every 10 seconds. I tried to eject 4.63 with the ignition on but the DVD won't eject. The orange light for the 'open' button is lit so I know there's power getting to the DVD but I just can't seem to understand why it won't eject.

I think it is because it's stuck in the cycling loop with the screensaver. I'm trying to avoid going to the dealer to get this problem resolved. Anyone know how to force eject this DVD? thanks

You need to get the official upgrade from Alpine. 4.13 is the original release. When you buy the new 4.73 upgrade, and tell them you have 4.13, they throw in a second DVD for free that upgrades the navi hardware (not sure if it is a reflash or what). 4.64 may be successful for you, that was the first upgrade that worked for 4.13. The original 4.62 was problematic, much as you describe or worse. 4.63 was a release, I believe for newer cars, such as the 08 TLs, the 09 TSX, and perhaps the 08 RL, 08 RDX and 08 MDX, but never sanctioned as an upgrade for older versions such as 4.1x or 4.3x. It may have worked for 4.5x

The whole sordid history is chronicled somewhere in this audio forum.

I'm just trying to revert back to 4.13 but the door to the DVD won't open. I've tried removing the plugs on the battery for 10 mins but still no luck

if it were me....assuming you are out of warranty....i would remove the DVD unit and return it to alpine for a factory repair...they charge a flat rate of I think $150 plus shipping....its not that difficult to remove...search DVD nav for non-nav vehicles and its all covered...if you need more info I will try to help you.
