DVD-A / CD Compatibility

I've looked through the other posts, but couldn't find anything related. So...

Does anyone know if the DVD-A player will play SACD's? I know my home play will play both formats, but I don't have any SACD's to try in the car.
The reason I ask, there is content in both formats that I'd like to purchase, but I don't want to waste the money on the SACD if it won't play in my RL.

Thanks!

It will not play SACD and there are a few DVD_A that it will not play. I've been burned on a few purchases of DVD-A's that did not play in the RL but worked on home system.

What about "home brew" DVD-Audio's? Is it worth the effort to: 1) purchase some DVD-A authoring software. 2)purchase DVD-R or DVD+R disks. 3)Rip your favorite MP3’s as DVD-A for use in the RL, which could take hours.

If the general experience has been that the RL will only read about half of purchased DVD-A’s, I don’t think home-brew DVD-A’s will have much better luck.

1/2 might be a bit understated. I've bought 8 and all have worked. Then again, maybe I'm just lucky...
