Door Handel Issue

I know, I know, the door handles have a problem, lol. Well, my 2005 sensors just went out and the dealer is quoting over $300 each to replace them. What I was hoping to find out is if anyone has replaced these themselves and found a good place to purchase them for less? I saw one on eBay for about $120 but it was just the passenger side. Any leads?

Thanks!

I went to the dealer, ponied up the cash, and drove away.

$300 seems like a good deal. The handles made before '07 are obviously defective, so buying used or on eBay could be a waste of money. The dealer is giving you a brand new handle, taking your car apart for you, and warrantying their work with a price of 2/3 parts and 1/3 labor.

plus if you source your own parts and something fails or breaks there is no warranty

Dang - I suppose the dealer is the best option. I was just hoping to avoid spending almost $700 for a convenience item. Oh well, such is life. Thanks for the direction guys.

same here. I just replace the driver door handle at 282 for the handle and 1 hour labour.
At the dealer, you get a one year warrently, so that give me a peace of mind

Yeah, I think I'll just go this route. I'll probably wait until the dealer sends me a flyer with a coupon on work or parts. They send those out a few times a year

Thanks for all the help guys!

you have to call your company or take it to the dealer and have them call

If your Acuracare is still in effect, then it should be a covered item under Acura care. I had my door handle replaced ( for the second time on the driver's side) under my Acuracare a few years ago. Not a problem since.

You know what's funny . . . mine has started to work again now that the weather has warmed up a bit. Maybe I can put this off for a little while longer

the problem tends to be intermittent until it totally fails

The problem is that sometimes when it fails, the whole system goes crazy, the alarm won't turn off even when driving, and all fob access is lost. Supposedly driving to the dealer with the alarm going is quite the experience, especially if you have to stop for gas.

ROFL! Sorry, that just creates such a mental image. I know, it wasn't funny to you at the time. Hopefully I won't be posting a story of the same thing

At least this way the dealer can't say they can't replicate the issue and your car is perfectly fine!
