I noticed on a demo drive that the RL Navi had a 'place' (a car stereo store) that the TL navi didn't.

I thought their data would be the same. Is it not?

 

I would assume that the data in the RL would be more up to date than the data in the TL. I don't think they have made any changes whatsoever to the TL's navi. I could be wrong, though.

 

Maybe the RL had a newer DVD inserted??

 

Depending upon year and database (DVD) version, yes, RL could potentially have more.

1. Things get added and removed at every DVD update.
2. RL and other Honda products starting at 2005 model year have Zagat restaurants so there could be differences there.

3. Fundamentally, despite looking quite similar, the TL and RL Navi platforms are quite different and therefore the suppliers' processes for compiling the database and POIs may be a bit different.

4. To make matters more confusing the source of POIs may be different between the two systems depending upon model year and production date.

Navigation is an industry that is rapidly evolving and changing.
