I would say there are a fair number that use 4.72, after the 4.62 debacle. This was the first reliable upgrade for 2005 RLs with 4.1x. I use it. It is basically a map upgraded version of 4.62, which worked for some, and not for others.

So what is the question? It works well, but since they are no longer selling 4.72, in faver of 4.81, why does it really matter?

I'm using 4.72. I upgraded from the original version in my 05, so there were quite a few updates to the road database that I noticed in the SF Bay area.
Also, the restaurants now have a coffee house type which has Peetes and Starbucks among others which has come in handy. I not absolutely sure, but I do not recall seeing that in previous version as one time I was specifically looking for a Peetes. Specifically comes in handy while going to early morning soccer tournaments (parent not player)

If you were able to get 4.62 to work in your 06, many were not able to, then 4.72 will work. 4.62 did a flash upgrade, and included many updates. Look at the Alpine site to see. 4.72 is the same functionality with map updates and POI updates, but that is it.

I got the 4.81 update from Acura in the mail today. I'll let you know how the upgrade goes for me when I install it.

C-Lad- Got 4.81, still haven't gotten my car yet. lol. My car was delivered to Carmax last thursday, and the inspection team still hasn't released the car into their inventory so that I can buy it (something about the ignition "catching"). I'll post as soon as I get the car and install the new software which I think includes a new flash update?

You didn't indicate the version you upgraded from but in most cases the upgrade adds new roads/routes and maybe some restaurants, gas stations, etc. and those are some months behind. If no changes in your area, you wouldn't notice anything new. IMHO an upgrade usually only worth the $$$ every 3+ years.

Is there anybody can help me to find the please where I can download 4.72 US version. I am using copy of
v4.31 on my MDX 2005 and it is literally driving me to the wall so many road changes over this years. I have tried 4.73a but it is not working and I can tall, not working for everybody so, maybe I will be lucky with 4.72 if I will be able to found download.
I would appreciate if anybody can help.
Thanks in advance.

I loaded 4.81 and I would have to agree that I don't see any "real" difference between 4.81 and the 4.5x version that came with the car.....of course the zagat scores are now 2009.

If you go through the threads here, I think you will find that you need to buy it. Alpine seems to have put in some sort of copy protection that has foiled disk duplicating programs. In the end, just buy it or get something off of ebay, just be careful of your upgrade path so you don't lockup your navi.

Ok, Thanks for a good advice,
I don’t have to revile this info but, I’m currently looking for a job and this search require a lot of driving. My current navi DVD is not accurate (too old). The version 4.72 is the last version knowing as working after copied and before Alpine start doing new tricks to prevent copy. I tried v 4.73a and it is already staffed with copy protection. So, I believe, I answered all your questions including “why don’t you buy it” are there anybody can answer on my question?
Thanks,

Looks like this thread completely none practical for me. Everybody just says it: “I installed new NAVI DVD” or “I put 38” rims on my car” or “I get new floor mats, it’s looks outstanding”. Who cares how it look? Why I should know about you installed 38” rims? What difference it make for the others that you purchase new DVD?
From my point of view this thread is just waste of web-space. People go to the forum to share useful information to help each other to resolve problem but, some people use this advantage just too express themselves. And the most important part, there is no answer to originally posted question.

dmi2000, talk of illegal pirating is not allowed. That's why you're not getting an answer to your question. End of story.
