Does Acura plan to include digital radio as an option any time soon?

 

XM is digital.

 

It's digital, but not HD

Just like TV. Satellite TV is digital, but not necessarily HD.

 

I don't want to hear local car ads in HD, let alone non-HD. HD terrestial radio, from what I underrstand, is just a higher quality sound of the stuff they play today. I will stick with XM, as long as they are around.

 

Probably not since Acura has a sweetheart deal with XM. The next generation of XM (if they don't go bankrupt) will be HD (5.1) and the displays will be able to show song lyrics, album name, etc. However. we are talking big bucks here for the head units and since Acura seems to be backing away from being a true luxury car company it would seem DVD-A is about as high tech they will go for quite awhile. Look for GM cars to lead the way in HD radio and HD XM, since they own XM and still have Delco/Delphi, sort of.

 

I was looking at the XM printed guide yesterday and I noticed that a few stations had the HD logo next to them. Specifically the stations are...

76 - FINE TUNING - Eclectic/Free form
113 - XM POPS - Classical Favorites

Do any of you know whether or not these are truly being broadcast in HD, and will our headunits decode these in true HD fashion?
