To work in the 2005 RL, using the steering wheel controls and dash controls?
Is this a factory device or should I be looking at Crutchfield or local stereo shop/hackers? Im trying to keep the car as factory original as possible, but would love to use my IPOD in there for variety. Anyone care to chime in ??

Do a search and there are several aftermarket devices that work, in no particular order:

Dice
Neo Audio
USASpec

I have a Neo Audio which may be a relabelled USASpec, and it has an iPod cable which charges and does the audio to the head unit. Very nice. When the phone rings, it pauses, and restarts after use. When you switch sources, iPod pauses and will restart where you left off. Second audio input also using a 3.5 mm jack

 

Blitz may also work, some say the best.

When we bought the RL new in '05, we asked about an IPOD adapter and they didnt want to go with it so we dropped it. Havent driven the car much since then and now we have to, so we need the electronics !
