Cingular 8125 w Batt & Signal Strength
For those of you with a Cingular 8125 or other some other smart phones that want the signal strength and battery meter to show up in your dash display this is for you. I just installed software from the following site and now get the signal strength and battery meter displaying in the car.

I still haven't got the data connection to work but it is nice to have the battery and signal show up.
This phone now also works fine with my Motorola IHF1000 that I have in two other cars, which is why I originally purchased the software. It was an added bonus to find out that it also fixed this problem with the Acura. Best yet the software was only $14.95 and has a 30 day free trial.

According to Acura's HFL site, none of the PDA / Smartphones under Cingular are data capable with AcuraLink. I have the RAZR V3 which is data capable and is he primary reason I have yet to get a smartphone. Odd how the smartphones are not compatable for AcuraLink!

I also used my Razr for a while for the data link, but was never really sure what it did for me. I use the PDA phone most of the time, so that is what I keep linked in the Acura. Callers have told me the connection is much clearer after I installed the software than before on the 8125. I haven't really tried to hard to get a data connection since I added the software, I may try again at some point over the next couple weeks.

The data connection to AcuraLink is primarily to transmit trouble codes to Acura for diagnosis without necessarily taking the car in. I have also had service appointment reminders sent to the car when made via the OwnerLink website. I do not know if there is capability to send any sort of software upgrades to the RL via the data link so it may not be a critical service to you.

I upgraded my 8525 to Windows Mobile 6 and it now shows the battery and signal strength icons in the dash display. Also seems to have fixed the BT disconnection problem some were posing about. So the BT stack must have been upgraded in WM6!
