I have an 07 RL and am considering swapping out the stereo for an 09+ to get bluetooth streaming. I've done a bunch on research on the forum but couldn't get all of my questions answered. The biggest one is which part of the 09+ unit enables the actual BT streaming? The combined unit with the faceplate, climate control, etc is $200+ on eBay depending on where you go, but the individual components can be much cheaper. Does anyone know if it's possible to just just swap out one component/module to get BT? If so, which one? Not opposed to spending the $ but wouldn't mind spending less either.
Just wanted to post an update. I found a radio for a 2010 and installed it. It was relatively easy to install and looks nice. Most everything functions as anticipated with a couple of notable exceptions.
The top display is garbled, which is a known issue. I’ll get a new one once I’m convinced everything else is working
I didn’t get the 2010 HFL module so BT audio streaming doesn’t work. I was pretty sure this would be the case, but thought it was worth a shot
The biggest issue is on the main display when the radio is displayed. For some reason the frequency and present numbers don’t show up but the rest does. Interestingly the display works fine for XM. One odd thing is that there is a small triangle pointing downwards on the left side of the screen. I am at a loss on this one. Anyone have any ideas?
This is a picture of the new 2010 stereo installed. Everything works, but the frequency and preset labels don’t appear.
